About our Vineyard
"Three Wishes" symbolise the three generations of the Whish-Wilson family that have helped produce our vineyards unique, award winning premium wines. Our family wines are hand crafted to reflect the natural beauty and historic character of our vineyard site, where small parcels of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Riesling grapes are grown on steep, ultra low yielding soils overlooking the beautiful Tamar River.
It is well known in the wine industry that the "warmest sites in cool climates" can grow exceptional wine grapes, and in this respect our vineyard is proving to have a most unique "site climate" for Tasmania. The vineyard is located on the "Batman Peninsular" surrounded by water from the Tamar River, it is protected from prevailing winds by a natural amphitheatre, soils vary considerably over the site but are are mainly rough gravely loams well worn by 100 years of Apple Orchards, and our steep north east facing slopes provide airflow and warm ripening conditions for Tasmanian Viticulture.
We are now into our 4th vintage, and our wines have attracted considerable attention already. Given low volumes of production they are already sought after.

TWV POINTS OF INTEREST
- We are in a five year program to grow wine according to Organic principles, with "minimalist" viticultural pesticide and herbicide practices used in past vintages.
- Our wines are made by boutique contract wine makers, who are prepared to allow our active input in the wine making process.
- We hold our wines back for one year of bottle age before sale, and have just opened a cellar door sales outlet at the Vineyard in December 06.
- We sell to a few select restaurants and boutique bottle shops/gourmet outlets, we have no distributor and sell mainly via mailing lists and cellar door sales. We have just commenced wine sales to the mainland and Sweden in 2006.
- Wine labels art work by Cari Buziak, Celtic Artist. Three Rings on Labels symbolise a "vesicle", an ancient fertility symbol, which enclose three Celtic W's which symbolise the "three wishes". The three dots are druid symbols for the balance in nature (earth, wind, fire) or in celtic human nature "body, mind and soul".
